When you think of writer-director David Zucker, and producer Gil Netter,
you probably think of the whacky off the wall comedy present in such classics
as Airplane, and The Naked Gun, and Top Secret. While the two have had forgettable
outings together (BASEketball, High School High), it would be difficult to mount much
evidence against their obvious comedic talents.
What Zucker and Netter lack, however, is any experience in television.
While Zucker has seen action as a writer, director, and producer—and Netter has Executive Produced numerous projects, neither has spent
any time on the television battlefield. That may seem like a problem
to some, but to us, it means only one thing. Fresh perspective.
You can bet that Zucker and Netter will develop comedies that fit the
mold of television, but will be far from your typical sitcom. We're hoping they break the mold altogether.
"We have a bunch of ideas, and none of them is traditional TV," Zucker
told Variety. "If it's too weird, we won't do it, but I don't think
you'll see sofas facing forward and people cracking jokes."
We can’t wait to see what these guys come up with. Until then, stay tuned.
