Just don't let it happen again

There's been an awful lot of ruckus in the United States over NYPD Blue losing its time slot to freshman divorcee romance drama Once and Again.
Once and Again was supposed to keep Blue's 10 pm Tuesday seat warm until the cop show's US season premiere, November 9. But Once and Again's strong ratings led ABC America execs to consider leaving it in the slot and moving Blue.
A very angry Blue creator/producer Steven Bochco publicly asked ABC to cancel the show so he could shop it to another network. And NBC America president Garth Ancier quickly volunteered his network's Tuesday 10 slot.
Well, it's all settled now. NYPD Blue will return (in the USA) at 10 pm on Tuesdays... in January 2000.
