NYPD Blue producer Steven Bochco is suing the pants off 20th Century Fox, for a reported $61.6 million. Much like David Duchovny’s X-Files-related suit, Bochco claims Fox cheated him out of profits from Blue by licensing it at below-market value to in-house cable network FX.
Bochco, who agreed to allow Fox to represent him in negotiations for NYPD Blue syndication, maintains that the studio sold the drama to FX for $400,000 an episode without allowing other potential buyers to bid on it (which certainly would have raised the price, and Bochco’s share of the profits).
