The Roseanne show (Channel 10 - Daily from 28/9)
Formerly Roseanne Barr, and then Roseanne Arnold, and now
just plain face-lifted Roseanne. This is the Queen of controversy's
new daytime talk show. It's high noon as she goes head-to-head with
Midday with Kerri Anne. Will her abrasive style of comedy be
enough to win this timeslot? I doubt it. Reports from the U.S. already
indicate that, after a strong start, her ratings are sliding.
Stingers (Channel 9 29/9)
This is the new undercover cop show that Fortress Nine hopes will fill the
gap left by Water Rats. Peter Phelps, who has been in
everything from Baywatch to Blue Murder, stars
in this Aussie drama from producers Roger Simpson and Roger
LeMesurier. Inspired by the life of a real undercover operative, this
series about a crack force of cops mingling with low lifes in the
underworld should be a winner.
The Visitor (Channel 7 1/10)
U.S. Sci-fi fantasy show that should appeal to fans of
Sliders and Stargate SG-1. It's about a missing
pilot who returns to Earth after 50 years. Already axed in the States, but
it does have an interesting premise.
The Day of the Roses (Channel 10 - Coming Soon)
Proporting to tell the real story behind the tragic Granville Rail disaster
in 1977, this much-hyped drama stars John Bach, Rebecca Gibney and
What's-his-name who used to be in The Flying Doctors.
The House from Hell (Channel 10 - Coming Soon)
No idea what this is, but Titanic 10 are sneaking in mysterious little ads
to promote it. No doubt they'll tell us soon.
