Midday With Kerri-Anne (Noon, Channel 9) brings back 90 minutes of entertainment and variety each weekday.

Sale of the Century (7.00pm, Channel 9) starts the year with Battle Of The TV Shows, a fun battle between the stars of some of television's most popular programs.

In the fourth season premiere episode of Friends (7.30pm, Channel 9), Phoebe gets to know her mother and we'll find out who Ross chooses - the bald Bonnie or Rachel.

In the first show for 1998, the Healthy, Wealthy and Wise team (7.30 pm, Channel 10) welcome a new member, cooking teacher and author, Meera Freeman.

Jay Leno guest stars in the pilot episode of Veronica's Closet (8.00pm, Channel 9). The series stars Kirstie Alley, Christopher McDonald, Dan Cortese and Kathy Najimy and is set in an upscale lingerie company called "Veronica's Closet". Owner and romance expert, Veronica "Ronnie" Chase has dumped her philandering husband and is beginning life anew.

Water Rats (8.30pm, Channel 9) starts the new season with two episodes, As Fast As You Can and The Gingerbread Man. In the first episode, Holloway investigates when his ex-wife is blackmailed and her house is bombed. Meanwhile, Sykes and Taylor stumble across prison escapees who try to steal the nemesis, and Tavita asks Rhonda to marry him. In the second episode, Holloway and Goldie's search for Lloyd Menzies and the missing money leads them to a cocaine bust. Meanwhile, Tavita forms a strong attachement with Buster, a kid whose dad is in hospital.
