Millionaire Show Airs In USAWednesday 7 July 1999 By eBroadcast Staff and agencies.
Logically speaking, it is wrong to assume that just because a game show is very popular in Britain and Australia, it will be a hit in America. But, when one considers that the British show in question has a direct effect on traffic (meaning there's a noticeable drop off in the number of autos occupying the London streets when the show airs) it does seem possible that this kind of success will have no trouble crossing cultural barriers.
And that's exactly what ABC America is hoping for when Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? debuts for two weeks this month, more like it's Australian equivalent.
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire will be hosted by Regis Philbin. The show will air for 14 days starting August 16 at 8:30 p.m. on ABC.
