Michael Jackson's Five Fingered (Gloved) DiscountWednesday 12 July 2000 By eBroadcast Staff and agencies.
A Beverly Hills jewellery store, located on the prestigious Rodeo Drive, is suing Michael Jackson over a $1.9 million watch.
The self-proclaimed 'King of Pop' was given the 100-karat, diamond-encrusted watch to take home for a few days. The understanding was that the singer would purchase the timepiece for the reduced price of $1.45 million if he was happy, or he would return it to the store.
David Orgell, the owner of the store, claims that Jackson kept the watch for four months without any money exchanging hands. When the watch finally returned, with an attached note declining the offer to buy, Orgell found the watch to be scratched and covered in food.
Orgell is suing Jackson for the full price of the watch.
