Spin City’s Michael J Fox today announced he will leave the show at the end of the fourth season (USA), to spend time with his family and to focus on a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
In 1998, Fox revealed he was suffering from Parkinson’s disease.
“After long and careful consideration, I have decided that following the completion of Spin City’s fourth season, and the filming of our 100th episode, I will not be returning for a fourth year.” Said Fox in a statement released today.
Spin City has undergone a major boost in ratings in the past season with the addition of former Melrose vixen Heather Locklear. It is unclear at this stage whether the American ABC Network will end the show or replace Fox, who plays a New York mayoral press aide.
Fox has not ruled out returning to performing on TV and/or movies in the future, but only on a less regular basis.
