Michael J. Fox Leaves Hollywood For WashingtonMonday 29 May 2000 By eBroadcast Staff and agencies.
Like his politically ambitious character in the hugely successful eighties sitcom ‘Family Ties’, Michael J. Fox has left Hollywood’s ‘Spin City’ for Capitol Hill, with plans to officially launch the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
Fox, 38, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991, only went public with the news two years ago. His foundation, together with the Parkinson’s Action Network, plans to raise money and awareness for the research of the disease. Fox has received support and encouragement from several politicians in Washington, which will no doubt help his quest.
Fox’s many films include ‘Back to the Future’, ‘The American President’, Mars Attacks!’ and most recently ‘Stuart Little’.
