Madonna Wins Her NameMonday 23 October 2000 By eBroadcast Staff and agencies.
After many months of fighting for her name, pop icon Madonna can finally rest.
The 42 year old singer has won the rights to www.madonna.com, a site that has been cashing in on the mother-of-two's name for the sake of pornography.
Madonna took the case to The United Nations' World Intellectual Property Organisation, an organisation that arbitrates disputes over Internet domain names and has developed a pattern of ruling in favour of celebrities, most recently Julia Roberts.
Although the diva herself chose not to comment, publicist Liz Rosenberg commented, "She happens to be the most famous Madonna in the world, so I think she certainly has every right to try to protect a Website called Madonna".
