Even famous people get the blues. Not even a huge fan base and wads of cash in the bank can keep a person from getting depressed and confused and in search of answers. And you know, we can honestly respect that.
In a recent interview, Lucy Lawless, star of Xena: Warrior Princess revealed that she battled some inner demons last year while working on the show. "During the beginning of the fourth season... I found it very difficult reconciling my job with my life," she said in an interview. "I didn't know why I was doing it anymore."
Even though she knew she should by all rights be as happier than the rest of the human race -- after all, she does get to play Xena, be a sex symbol, and hang out with her new husband and daughter -- something wasn't right. She had to do something, and so she decided to order some tapes from Tony Robbins. Yes, the Tony Robbins, self-help master with the biggest teeth in the world. It's not something we've ever considered. He scares us.
"I mean, when you first order his tapes you feel like a fool," she revealed. "I mean, you might as well be ordering Ginsu steak knives thrown in for free.
But I had nothing to lose." Except maybe a teensy weensy bit of pride? She said was worth it -- we say she learned what most people could have told her for free.
"You can't be looking at external factors to shore up your own soul. That just doesn't happen -- it all comes from within."
Hey Lucy, next time, send email to us. We give good advice, and it's free!
Some lessons are important to learn no matter how you learn them. But here's where we raise the eyebrow. The interview in which Lucy revealed her depression was in no less a publication than... Penthouse. Now, Tony Robbins we can forgive her for. But Penthouse? Not even we, who have notoriously low standards, claim to read the articles in Penthouse. In fact, we didn't even know there were any articles. Playboy, yes. Penthouse is just one rung above Hustler. Not exactly where we'd expect to find a role model, eh?
