Tony and Maureen Wheeler, founder of the world-renowed Lonely Planet Travel Guides, have joined Channel Nine's travel program, Getaway, as reporters.
As founder and priciple author of Lonely Planet Publications, Tony Wheeler's advice is sought after by independent travellers all over thw rold. The New York Times Magazine recently called him "the trailblazing patron saint of the world's backpackers and adventure travellers".
In addition to her new role with Getaway, Maureen Wheeler continues to travel in search of new and exciting destinations and also spends a great deal of time road-testing the Lonely Planet list.
"Tony and Maureen Wheeler are an outstanding addition to our team. Their knowledge of traveling and depth of personal experiences will be a great asset. We are thrilled that they have decided to join Getaway and look forward to working with them both," says Getaway's Executive Producer, John Walsh.
The Wheelers' first report "An Insiders' Guide To London" goes to air on Getaway on Thursday, July 8 at 7.30pm on Channel Nine.
