The Seinfeld alum will join Drew Carey in the ABC musical Geppetto

It sounds crazy, but it's true. Two of TVs favorite clowns, Julia and Drew, are going to sing. ABC's retelling of the Pinocchio story (told from the vantage point of his puppeteer father) will air on The Wonderful World of Disney during May sweeps next year. We know they can make us laugh, but can they sing? Even more importantly, can Julia dance better than Elaine?
After taking a year off from Seinfeld, Louis-Dreyfus is ready to get back in the game. She will reportedly play the Blue Fairy, who grants Geppetto's wish for a son.
"But a musical?" you ask. We thought the same thing, but we're willing to give anything a shot, especially if these two are in it.
"I did this because of the singing and dancing, which isn't like anything I've done before," Louis-Dreyfus explained. "The music is a hoot -- there are some fabulous numbers." And aren't fabulous numbers what a hoot is really all about?
In regards to a full-time return to television, Louis-Dreyfus, who had her first child with one-time SNLer Brad Hall, seems content with semi-retirement. "I guess that year is up, but, nah, I can assure you, I am not looking to work full-time right now," she said. Regardless, we'll be glad to have her back, even if it's only part-time.
Tom Moore will reportedly direct Geppetto from David I. Stern's script, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz.
Julia, may the Schwartz be with you.
