| Above: Judd Nelson has prefected the condescending smirk
|
It is safe to assume that there was a time when Judd Nelson was thrilled
to be a part of the cast of Suddenly Susan. It is also safe to assume that period of delight came to an abrupt end after the former Brat Packer read the reviews for the premiere.
Variety reports that Nelson felt the relationship between his character (magazine editor Jack Richmond) and Shields' character (writer) had seen better days (perhaps we should say "borderline tolerable" days).
Nelson and the show’s producers mutually agreed to his departure.
One has to be pleased that Nelson used conventional methods to leave
the show, unlike former co-star David Strickland, who hung himself.
Believe it or not, the show plans to go on, assuring those unfortunate viewers who accidentally tune in, their deserved half-hour of nausea.
Nelson has a few film projects that are either in production, or in the can:
Light It Up (for Fox 2000), The Cure For Boredom, and Endsville.
We were hoping Nelson's departure might be the last nail in the coffin for Suddenly Susan. But, like a cockroach, it seems the show will survive its own little nuclear winter.
