The Seven Network today announced it will add a new news service at 4.30pm.
Seven News - Target Iraq will screen weeknights at 4.30pm as of next Monday and looks likely to be hosted by Melbourne newsreader David Johnston.
Johnston has been tipped as a possible replacement to Seven's 6pm newsreaders Ann Sanders and Ross Symonds.
EBroadcast believes the new 4pm show is either what the initial Johnston rumours were referring to, or they could quite possibly be a vehicle to open up Johnston's audience to the nation.
EBroadcast has also heard the Nine Network may counter-act with a similiar 4pm or 5pm News, should the situation in Iraq intensify.
It is unlikely that Channel Ten will change their First At Five slogan due to their coverage of other news items excluding Iraq.
