Hottest buzz around the Sydney TV newsrooms concerns a shifting of chairs at Seven News.
EBroadcast has learned Seven Sydney is in talks with Seven Melbourne newsreader David Johnston to replace current anchors Ann Sanders and Ross Symonds.
David Johnston, who is an occassional anchor and special features reporter at Seven Melbourne, is currently based in Sydney and is filling the 10.30am news slot after the axing of Garry Wilkinson.
It is believed the morning position is a test-case for a possible shift to primetime for Johnston.
Rumours have circulated for months that the positions filled by Ann Sanders and Ross Symonds are currently under review due to very average ratings. Seven are also believed to be seeking an established solo newsreader to take on Jim Waley at Nine.
David Johnston has a long history in news, having fronted Ten's successful Eyewitness News in the 80's and early 90's. He also presented Ten's national morning news for a short time, as well as hosted Meet The Press. He later joined Seven Melbourne to read the 6pm news before being replaced by current anchor Peter Mitchell.
