| 'Would you want to show your face on that show?'

There isn't much reason to watch Home Improvement besides the Tool Time girl. So many of you would never have known that Jonathan Taylor Thomas, who plays Randy (the middle son), won't be on the series finale on May 25. But read on, it gets better.
According to an interview with Tim Allen in the new TV Guide,
Jonathan got pissed off at Tim for making some off-handed remarks. About
JTT's questionable sexuality perhaps? One might speculate this was the case. However, Tim and Jonathan apparently shared some temperamental remarks about
Jonathan's disappearance from the show during the eighth and, consequently, final season.
"He was a little miffed at me," Tim said. Interesting choice of words, Mr.
Allen.
According to Tim, Jonathan supposedly left the show to make more time for
studying and preparing himself for college. But instead, he went off and starred
in a film or two. "He said it was about going to school, but then he did
some films," Allen said in the interview. "Did he want to do films? Did he
want to go to school?" Or did he just want to leave a clunker of a show?
"I mentioned that I was confused [over the real reason for Jonathan's
absence]," said Tim. "I don't think he liked that."
According to the series producer, Gayle Maffeo, Jonathan himself made the decision not to appear in the finale.
"Every attempt was made to invite Jonathan to be in the last episode," she
said. "We did not want to leave him out of it and we would have loved to
have had him with us."
The feud has actually affected the entire TV clan. "It's a pretty sore
point around here," said Patricia Richardson, who plays the mom. "...I
don't think it's a good idea that he didn't show up, but I don't always
think he gets the best advice."
While Jonathon won't actually be in the finale, he'll still appear during
flashback clips. And he was unavailable for comment. But none of you care,
since you won't actually watch the show anyway.
It's a big mystery to us that anyone watches it at all. And it's a bigger
mystery that Tim and Patricia were offered a total of $75 million ($50M for
him, $25M for her) to keep going. And the biggest mystery of all is that
they refused. What other plans do they have?
Oh, and here's another mystery: Why do all three of the young male stars on
the show go by three names?
