The superstar of swimming, Ian Thorpe, last night gained himself a 3rd world record and gave Nine's TV coverage a huge ratings win.

Day 3 of the Swimming Selection Trials from the Sydney Aquatic Centre attraced an average national (five capital cities) audience of 2,514,300 between 7.00pm and 8.30pm.

In Sydney the telecast attracted a whopping 38 per cent of TV viewers (898,000 people). Melbourne scored 744,00 viewers peak, Brisbane 562,000, Adelaide 293,200 and Perth 218,000.
