As star of The X-Files, David Duchovny is no stranger to conspiracy.
Of course, there’s a big difference between make-believe and real-life conspiracy, and the actor hopes that difference will amount to $25 million. Thursday the actor filed a suit against 20th Century Fox, alleging that the company cheated him out of millions of dollars in profits from the TV series.
The lawsuit alleges that Fox sold various rights to The X-Files to its own companies (like selling syndication rights to its own FX cable channel) at bargain prices and took other measures to hide profits from the series. Duchovny also alleges Chris Carter conspired with the studio, and was paid millions in hush money to keep his trap shut.
It’s no secret that Duchovny has tired of his Fox Mulder character. Is he trying to wriggle out of the last year on his contract? Looks that way to us.
