The saga of Drew Barrymore's estranged mother, Jaid, has taken another weird step with the former child-star's mother narrowly escaping jail.

Jaid, an out-of-work actor, was found guilty of illegal gun charges after being found to be carrying a loaded, unlicensed pistol. The Nightshift star has been sentenced to ten days of community service and put on six months probation.

Jaid's antics, including an unsuccessful attempt to sell Drew's baby clothes over the Internet, have pushed her famous daughter further and further away. The pair have not spoken in years.
