Can you imagine Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan, Mariah Carey, Shania Twain and Aretha Franklin sharing the same stage and belting out their chart-topping hits? This mega-event was filmed as a VH1 special called Divas Live, which premieres on October 24th on Channel 10. Individually these singers have sold millions of albums and have a legion of fans in Australia, so this special should be a ratings winner for 10.

When it was screened in the U.S. there were rumours of backstage cattiness between Celine and Mariah. Apparently the two of them tried to outdo each other onstage with their vocal gymnastics. I guess you'll have to watch and judge for yourself to see if there is any truth to that. Carole King also makes a special guest appearance and if you like what you hear on the special, the album of the event is in stores now. Pity they couldn't get Barbara Streisand and Whitney Houston as part of the line up, but I guess you can only fit so much ego on the one stage.
