'Look, I'm so exhausted that I have to lean on this dirty stone wall. Feel for me.'

Not that we blame him for refusing to give a solid answer on the future of his role as Fox Mulder, but we'd really like it if he could just let us know as soon as possible. After all, we have Wednesday evenings reserved from here until eternity for The X-Files, and we're curious to know when we'll be free of our chains.
When asked if he'll be returning to The X-Files after next season ends, he has only this to say. "Seven years is a long time to do one show and I have other things to do — but then again, I don't know," he said recently in Pasadena, CA at the TV critics tour. Hooray for Mr. Ambiguity!
Show daddy and exec producer Chris Carter was a little more straightforward, but only a little more. After all, he has to make sure his comments are just mysterious enough to keep 'net denizens theorizing and analyzing for a while. Said he, "As I'm doing the series, I'm looking at these next 22 episodes of The X-Files to be the last."
