Britney goes down the rabbit hole, LeAnn in Star remake?Monday 25 October 1999 By eBroadcast Staff and agencies.
Today's top video gals have ditched their humble MTV beginnings and are both lined up for a bigscreen debut in two movie remakes.
Pop princess Britney Spears is considering starring in a modern day version of Alice In Wonderland. Says Entertainment Weekly, "While Lewis Carroll's Alice first experiences Wonderland by following a white rabbit, in this version Britney would start by being hit by a white Rabbit — as in Volkswagon."
"After that, it's chaos," screenwriter Sarah Thorpe tells EW. "She's in the midst of a rock and roll, hip-hop music that's far from anything Lewis Carroll imagined." In the updated version, the Mad Hatter is a talent scout, the Queen of Hearts is the Queen of Pop, and the caterpillar is, unsurprisingly, a pothead".
Meanwhile, teenage country music star LeAnne Rimes is to star in a forthcoming film in the same vein as A Star Is Born (which has been remade 3 times already). Daily Variety reports that Rimes will star in 'Emily's Song' for Warner Brothers, as a singer who is seperated from her father - only to be reunited via the power of music.
