Blair Witch Studio Shaggs New FilmWednesday 26 July 2000 By eBroadcast Staff and agencies.
Artisan, the movie studio behind The Blair Witch Project, has bought the rights to the film biography of all-girl band The Shaggs.
The Shaggs, who have had a cult following since the 60's, comprises of three sisters who were bullied into the music industry by their over ambitious father. Their only album, Philosophy of the World, was recorded in one day in 1969. Six years later, after the death of their father, the band disbanded.
The band, notorious for being one of the most un-talented group of musicians to ever record an album, still do the occasional reunion concerts in New York.
Shooting is expected to start in 2001.
