Hot on the heals of Brandy's successful TV adaptation of Cinderalla and Barbra Streisand set to star in the TV version of Mame, comes the news that the sun will come out tomorrow for 'Annie'.
Disney Television is producing an all-new
adaptation of the Broadway musical for
"The Wonderful World of Disney."
"After the success of 'Rodgers & Hammerstein's
Cinderella,' we've been looking for another
opportunity to produce a wonderful family musical.
I think we've found it with 'Annie,'" explains Charles
Hirschhorn, President of Walt Disney Television.
Original "Annie" composer Charles Strouse and lyricist Martin Charnin are writing
new songs for the production. Two-time Emmy nominee Rob Marshall will
choreograph and direct. No stars have yet been announced.
