This Life
The most talked-about program on British television this year comes to ABC TV on Tuesday November 18 at 9:30pm. This Life is the story of Miles, Anna, Milly, Egg and Warren who are young, gifted and very upwardly mobile. Recent graduates from the same law school, they work in the same practice and share the same house. But that is all they have in common.
Offering a compelling insight into the problems faced by today’s younger generation, the series explores a wide range of contemporary social issues from unemployment to homosexuality; from AIDS to drugs. Althought the main characters are all involved in the legal profession, the series is not about the law but about interpersonal
relationships and modern-day life.
Fast-moving and stylish, with moments of great tension relieved by flashes of humour, This Life provides an unflinchingly honest portrayal of communal living in a world where there are no longer any easy answers.
The series is written by Amy Jenkins, produced by Jane Fallon and directed by Sam Miller, Audrey Cooke and Nigel Douglas. It is an Island World Production for BBC Television.
Raw FM
The new 13 part drama series premiers on Tuesday November 18 at 8:30pm. The unlikely trio of Robert (Matthew Dyktynski), Granger (Dominic Purcell) and Zelda (Nadine Garner) are three very individual individuals. They’re as unlike as three people can be but they all have this one thing in common; they all have a love for radio.
In the series premier episode, What You Can, the three stars come together and their radio station is born as a result of a tragedy. The first episode also stars Sophie Lee as Patty and David Roberts as Conrad.
The show is an ABC TV/Generation Films co-production developed and produced with the assistance of Film Victoria. Sue Masters is the executive producer and Bob Weis is producer.
The first episode was written by Alison Tilson and directed by Alesksi Vellis.
Enjoy this wonderful series of Australian drama which the ABC is bringing to our screens. Isn’t it too bad the commercial networks don’t produce this quality of drama for us.
